New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is full of great designers and shows. Since its hard to stay up-to-date with that many shows, we love to keep you posted. Check out the entire schedule of all fashion weeks here.

Proenza Schouler

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez returned to New York Fashion Week last year, after showing at Paris for a while. We have to say we’re happy to have them back.

Their collection consists of many tailored pieces, that – in way way or another – look very relaxed. You don’t have to take a closer look to discover that it’s made by the hands of a true fashion designer – the eye for detail immediately reveals it. An innovative usage of belts, waterfall necklines and big shoulders form a perfect combination this season.

Soft hues are combined with tweety-yellow and we’re cool with it. Models looked fiercely at the fashion crowd from behind their spectacular sunglasses. Both bags and earrings remain big this season and that’s totally ok, since they spice up Spring’s trends a little. However, Proenza Schouler’s collection doesn’t need any spices at all. It’s powerful enough without any fuss.

Oscar de la Renta

For their New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020 show, designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia used the Domenican Republic as their main source of inspiration. The choice for this country isn’t that surprising, since it goes back to the Latin American roots of the brand.

The result? Short hemlines, bright color at – most dominantly – a cheerful mood. Some dresses were pieces of art in itself, while others were more wearable. It’s quite a refreshing direction for a fashion house best known for its incredible gowns. Both Kim and Garcia seem to know how to lift the designer brand no a new level. Well done.
