Sustainable fashion brand EVERYBODY.WORLD
Founders Carolina Crespo and Iris Alonzo like to refer to their brand as “clothes for everybody in the world, by EVERYBODY.WORLD”. The New York Times bombed Alonzo to “the most influential former senior creative director you’ve never heard of”, just after she has left American Apparel in 2015. Crespo and Alonzo knew each other as colleagues at this fashion label. After they left, they joined forces for their sustainable fashion brand EVERYBODY.WORLD.
The label sustainable fashion brand has a unique way of developing their collections. Alonzo and Crespo approach ‘normal’ and ‘everyday’ people they respect and admire. They include ‘everybody’ they like in one way or another. This varies from people they meet in line at the public bathroom to someone they admire for his or her cool style while wandering around the streets.

Pushing boundaries in sustainable fashion
On top of their inclusive philosophy, the founders of fashion brand EVERYDAY.WORLD developed an entirely new type of cotton, namely a 100% recycled one. Something no one ever thought the two entrepreneurs would succeed in became reality.
Iris Alonzo and Carolina Crespo also believed in having a wardrobe filled with durable basics. That’s what they aim to realize with sustainable fashion brand EVERYBODY.WORLD as well. During their careers at American Apparel, they often heard complaints about brilliant basics that went out of stock and weren’t produced for the next season anymore. People were constantly contacting the customer service with repeating questions about this subject. Therefore, the two decided to produce durable basics and make them gender neutral. It’s also a bit inspired by how they like to dress up themselves. They told The Standard in an interview that they like to “wear everything that feels good”, despite of the gender it is supposed to be created for. In line with their goal to make clothes inspired by everybody for everyone, these gender-neutral garments are supposed to suit all body types and sizes.

The brand’s ‘designers’
Since neither Alonzo nor Crespo were designers and they wanted to create collections for everybody, they used ‘every man on the street’ to design clothes for the brand. The aim is to develop garments everyone wants to wear every day, so why not ask their target audience (which is basically everyone) to come up with ideas? The entrepreneurs had the means to produce the clothes and the experience to estimate the success of a garment, so this step was easily made. It resulted in very cool and varying collections. And on top of this, the ‘designers’ get 10% of the sales of garments they’ve designed. Everyone gets their part of the cake. Together with designing fashion that is gender neutral and meant for all shapes and sizes, this does sound like the ultimate inclusive brand, doesn’t it?
