MATTHIEU BLAZY AT CHANEL
After weeks of speculations, Chanel finally dropped the bomb: Matthieu Blazy got appointed as the house’s new creative director. Blazy will oversee the house’s womenswear and haute couture lines. Besides talking to Matthieu Blazy, sources claim that the house has also interviewed Marc Jacobs, Pieter Mulier, Pierpaolo Piccioli, and Jeremy Scott.
Matthieu Blazy has made Bottega Veneta one of the hottest tickets in Milan, with star-studded front rows and the likes of Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Michelle Yeoh, Hailey Bieber, and many others. Since working at Bottega Veneta, Blazy has been applauded for his sense of delicate craftsmanship, sophistication, and how his collections stay close to the house’s heritage.
Blazy was born in 1984 in Paris and attended La Cambre in Brussels. He started his career in fashion as a protege of Raf Simons. From 2016 to 2019, they worked together at Calvin Klein in New York. Before his New York adventure, Blazy worked under another big name within the industry: Phoebe Philo. At Celine, she learned the tricks of the trade as a senior designer.
Blazy will start working at Chanel in April 2025, and it’s sure that many of his previous looks would look great with a dash of “Chanellification.” To be continued…
