Last season, Lisi Herrebrugh and Rushemy Botter decided to focus on their label, Botter, instead of splitting their time between both fashion houses. It led to the talk of the town; who would become the next golden duo at the helm of Nina Ricci? Harris Reed it is, and Reed’s first collection for the renowned house didn’t disappoint. It was over the top, playful, mature, and cheeky – as good as it gets.

As a Central Saint Martins graduate, Harris Reed has the perfect resume one needs to be at the helm of a big fashion house. That is, until recently, since an online presence and community have become more and more critical. Reed has both, and the expectations for his first Ninna Ricci collections were high. With the likes of Adele, Harry Styles (perhaps he will swap his Gucci wardrobe for Ricci alternatives?), and many others, Reed is heating up Nina Ricci already. On the front row were celebrity stylists Law Roach and Marni Senofonte, responsible for Zendaya and Beyoncé, respectively. It all made sense when seeing the surrealist collection. The tulle gown Florence Pugh wore made an appearance, but it wasn’t just red carpet-worthy looks: Nina Ricci is also going back into denim.

“As a queer kid growing up in Arizona, French fashion was my escape,” explains Harris Reed. “Nina Ricci felt like my idealization of Paris: it had a dreamlike romanticism, with a deep respect for femininity, but it ultimately felt light-hearted and accessible to every kind of woman. For my inaugural collection for Nina Ricci, I wanted to nod to the Maison’s extraordinary history and, at the same time, reinterpret those feminine codes for a modern consumer in a poetic, humorous and fluid way. I like to dress individuals who want to have fun in meaningful and purposeful clothes. I’m so excited to usher in a daring new era at Nina Ricci that I hope will be more inclusive and exciting than ever.” Based on Reed’s first collection for Nina Ricci, this plan will definitely succeed.
