The influence of street style on fashion designers

Influence of street style

How big is the influence of street style trends actually nowadays? An interesting question if you ask us. Have you ver wondered who was first: the fashion crowd or the designer? Let’s take a closer look at these interesting questions from different perspectives. Find answers to all your questions below.

Does the influence of street style still exist?

To whom would you ask this question? To those who dominate the fashion industry, obviously. According to Raf Simons, fashion and its audience become more and more interconnected. See-now-buy-now shows have proven their own success and the ‘athleisure’ trend has been constantly visible over the past seasons (not to say years). However, not everyone agrees on this statement. The chicken and the egg-effect

Who was first? The designer or the people on the street? A question you might have asked yourself when Vetements launched their collection with DHL-logos. A collection worth millions of hashtags and viral content on social media. Furthermore, many brands nowadays seek for collaborations with rappers and other kinds of celebrities. What to conclude?

The good thing is: today’s designers seemed to have brought some humor to the runway. Whether this is because they were forced to conform to the bigger fashion crowd or not, it makes fashion a bit more accessible for everyone. It is like a new era of art or the reinvention of an object. In the beginning it might feel weird, extravagant or outrageous, but in the end you start to adapt to it and appreciate it. Whether the big crowds or the designers are in charge of the latest trends, it remains a fact that fashion has become more accessible for everyone during the last years. That’s at least a good thing.
