NYFW September 2018
Rodarte SS19
Rodarte’s ready-to-wear fashion show was the talk of town. Think of excessive raffles, big dresses and bright pink hues. Was it actually that ready-to-wear? For some it was, for others it wasn’t. If you belong to the fashion in-crowd, you surely can pop-up at a business meeting in a hysterical Rodarte SS19 dress. However, if you’re an accountant who’s into fashion, then rather leave this collection behind you from 9 to 5.

Despite the theme that seemed to be “go big or go home”, the garments were amazing and big flowers were gracefully braided into the models’ hair. The color palette consisted of many whites combined with pastels and bright shades of pink, purple and red. Overall: a very, very impressive ensemble.
Jeremy Scott SS19
With big fans such as Rihanna, Madonna, Birtney Spears and Gwen Stefani, Jeremy Scott has set high boundaries. Jeremy Scott’s show was highly influenced by hip-hop culture. The colorful garments with big logo’s and statements on it were unisex and worn by both male and female fashion models and hip hop icons. It is a young and urban collection, which will definitely be adopted by hip-hop fans. It was an extreme show, distant from the other, more romantic collections. However, it was one to remember.

John Elliott SS19
John Elliott lives by the words “Interesting people live outside their comfort zone”. Something his father taught him when he was young. It formed the main reason for him to start his fashion label, back in 2013. Since then, the brand has grown tremendously. The brand is famous for its unconventional ‘basics’. Think of modern garments made from unique fabrics.
His NYFW September 2018 show – located in LA – was in line with this thinking. Utilitarian influences mixed well with street style pieces. Furthermore, in line with almost every other collection presented during this NYFW, flowery patterns didn’t lack.
