FENDI Baguette Bag

New York Fashion Week started with a banger of an event: the star-studded 25th-anniversary party of the FENDI Baguette Bag. It’s been a while since New York Fashion Week witnessed a party this size. Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi celebrated the bag’s milestone together with a celebrity-packed guest list. The pleasure-evoking bag was celebrated by Sarah Jessica Parker (without doubt the most important guest), Kim Kardashian, Grace Jones, Amber Valletta, Karlie Kloss, Kate Moss, and many others. The famous crowd gathered inside the Hammerstein Ballroom, transformed into a party-proof Fendi space with lots of beige. Creative Director Kim Jones knows how to throw a party everyone wants to be invited to; Silvia Venturini Fendi and he did not only compose an envy-worthy guest list but also set up a collaboration with Tiffany & Co., resulting in diamond-embellished FENDI Baguette Bags – entirely Carrie Bradshaw-approved.

We shouldn’t forget that in the early zeroes, Sex and the City’s protagonist Carrie Bradshaw provided an iconic status to the modern it-bag. When being robbed on the streets of New York City, she desperately screamed ‘It’s not a bag, it’s a baguette!’ These might not be the first words to think of while a gun is pointed at you, but it was an iconic scene nevertheless.

Despite the collab with Tiffany’s, Marc Jacobs was invited to do his thing as well – quite literally. Jones: ‘I called Marc up and asked him if he wanted to design a collection for Fendi. I haven’t been involved at all.’ As a cherry on the pie, Linda Evangelista, the new face of Fendi, was the main character of the show, side by side with Bella Hadid and many other relevant supermodels. After Evangelista’s fresh appearance on British Vogue’s cover and her recent settlement with the company that ‘ruined’ her face, it’s great to have her back. Because the fashion industry may have countless icons, both Evangelista and the FENDI Baguette Bag belong to the frontrunners of the scene.
